Visit Vitry-Le-François

Vitry-le-François is a town that was created in 1545, and which takes its name and motto from the King of France François 1er.

The city is nicknamed the "Pink City". This name comes from the pink or red colored paving stones used for sidewalks and spaces.

The essentials:
  • The Collegiate Church of Notre-Dame: the largest classical church in the Marne (17th - 19th centuries) and listed as a Historic Monument;
  • The Place d'Armes, all paved with in its center the statue of the Marne river (fountain) erected in 1840. Make a short stop there, you will find restaurants and all the necessary shops around the square;
  • The Town Hall: former 17th century Recollect Convent;
  • The Pont Gate, which marked the entrance to the city;
  • A few half-timbered houses.
